Radical Agenda EP016 – Cops: Blocked and Unblocked

The annual Porcupine Freedom Festival in Lancaster, New Hampshire is approaching rapidly. I happen to be banned from that event, but I still get the pleasure of seeing my friends from around the country come to New Hampshire for one of the best libertarian gatherings on Earth.

CopBlock.org founder Ademo Freeman happens to be one of those friends, and he’ll be joining me live in studio for the 16th episode of the show this Thursday, June 18th from 5-7pm Eastern. Ademo lived in New Hampshire for a number of years before serving a brief stint as my roommate in Keene. He then packed up and hit the road, and to my understanding has been spending a lot of time making life quite difficult for police in Ohio.

Radical Agenda EP016 – Cops: Blocked and Unblocked

Meanwhile, I just got done having coffee with the Chief Brian Costa of the Keene Police Department, a coffee which he paid for. We discussed a wide range of subjects in a friendly and personable manner. Our respective careers prior to our current professions, our views on drugs, and how best to solve the problems associated with them, even the very nature of State power. Sadly, I did not manage to turn Brian into a Rothbardian Anarcho-Capitalist this afternoon, but I thoroughly enjoyed his company despite our differing world views, and what I see as a career choice which in no small part is based on predation.

I’m not usually a fan of seeking the “middle ground”. Compromise leads to things becoming, well, compromised. I do however see a tremendous value in an open dialogue with police. They are, despite our distaste for it, the monopoly dispute resolution service for a given geographic area. Even in a place like New Hampshire where self defense is respected in the face of an immediate threat, to force restitution or visit retaliation on a criminal after the fact is illegal for anybody but them.

So what’s an anarchist to do?

I figure Ademo is as good a person to ask as any, so I look forward to discussing this and other topics with him. Your calls are also welcome of course, dial 218-936-0815 or hit us up on Skype username Radical Agenda, if you would like to be on the program. Join us this Thursday, June 18th from 5-7pm Eastern time for another exciting episode of the Radical Agenda. It’s a show about common sense extremism, where we talk about radical, crazy things, like varying tactics to mitigate the damage of the police state.
