Radical Agenda EP095 – Dead Cowboy

A good man died yesterday. Robert “LaVoy” Finicum, 55 years of age, leaves behind 11 children, 19 grandchildren, and his wife of 23 years after the standoff at Malheur National Wildlife Refuge in Burns, Oregon reached the all too predictable result of a shootout. Seven others are in custody, including protest leaders Ryan and Ammon Bundy. Other demonstrators still occupy the reserve, and authorities have set up checkpoints around the occupied facility.

The seven in custody also includes  Ryan W. Payne, 32, of Anaconda, Mont., Brian Cavalier, 44, of Bunkerville, Nevada, and Shawna J. Cox, 59, of Kanab, Utah, Joseph D. O’Shaughnessy, 45, Cottonwood, Arizona, known in militia circles as “Captain,” and Pete Santilli, 50, of Cincinnati, an independent broadcaster known for his aggressive manner and live streaming refuge events. All face conspiracy charges of impeding federal officers.

Radical Agenda EP095 – Dead Cowboy

So much for that “peaceful resolution” everyone purported to be aiming for, but that’s not how things generally tend to pan out when one makes a stand against Cult of the Omnipotent State. The federal government extorted the citizenry, to obtain funds, to buy land, which was itself previously extorted from the citizenry by the state and local governments. The idea that this land would be reclaimed by peaceful measures was pure fantasy to begin with, and it would seem that LaVoy understood this. He had indicated during the standoff that he was prepared to die in this conflict, and when it came time to choose between being killed or captured, he chose the former.

Sadly, we can expect to lose a lot more men like LaVoy in the years to come. The federal government shows no signs that it intends to interact peacefully with the population, foreign or domestic. The 2016 election is a clear referendum on how best to grow the federal government, and any serious discussion on its reduction or abolition seems well out of reach. Whatever one’s take on the Malheur standoff, be it right, wrong, or somewhere in the foggy relativist center, it was nothing if not predictable. As the walls of State control close in and people begin getting claustrophobic, some number of us will prefer death and the government will be all too happy to grant it to us. The only question remaining is, how bad do things get, and how many of us get picked off one at a time, before a great enough number stand in defiance to bring it to an end.

In other news, Planned Parenthood has been let off the hook after being caught on video selling baby parts and altering abortion procedures to maximize profits in violation of federal law. In a somewhat less than surprising turn of events however, the people who caught them doing so have been indicted for the exact same crimes they happened to be investigating. Odd, it seems, that investigative journalists are being prosecuted for a crime that the same jury said never occurred when it came to the party being investigated.

I suppose that’s what happens when one tries to tell the truth about an agency built on lies, and backed by the federal government to the tune of half a billion dollars a year. Expecting them to obey the law is like expecting wheat to grown in the sand, or Donald Trump to back down to media pressure.

Speaking of sand and our glorious leader, Donald Trump told Fox News to pound sand yesterday. Apparently when you’re simultaneously the clear frontrunner in a presidential primary, and the most entertaining guy on television, you can afford to have a little respect for yourself instead of licking the boots of the media establishment. Megyn Kelly’s bias against Trump was illustrated quite clearly by her on air celebration of the National Review’s “Against Trump” symposium, and was followed shortly after by flirting with Michael Moore. Trump demanded Kelly be removed as a moderator, Fox News mocked Trump instead, and Trump opted to skip the debate and do a fundraiser for Wounded Warriors instead.

Anybody care to guess which event will make for better television?
